The Governance Procurement Specialist plays a critical role in overseeing the procurement processes of the Financial Institution, ensuring that all procurement activities are carried out in accordance with regulatory requirements, ethical standards, and financial institution policies. This position involves managing vendor relationships, negotiating contracts, and promoting cost-effective procurement practices while maintaining transparency and accountability.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Compliance Management: Ensure all procurement activities align with relevant financial industry regulations and internal governance policies.
  2. Procurement Planning: Develop and implement procurement plans in accordance with the institution's strategic goals and budget constraints.
  3. Vendor Selection and Management: Identify, evaluate, and select potential suppliers. Maintain relationships with vendors and negotiate contracts, terms, and service level agreements.
  4. Risk Assessment: Evaluate and mitigate risks associated with procurement activities, including reputational, financial, and regulatory risks.
  5. Cost Control: Work to optimize procurement costs while maintaining the quality and integrity of services and products.
  6. Stakeholder Collaboration: Collaborate with internal stakeholders, including finance, legal, and audit teams, to ensure procurement processes are aligned with the institution's objectives.
  7. Transparency and Accountability: Promote transparency in all procurement activities and maintain accurate records. Produce regular reports on procurement activities for management and regulatory bodies.
  8. Ethical Sourcing: Promote responsible and ethical sourcing practices, including sustainability and fair labor practices.
  9. Regulatory Adherence: Stay up to date with financial regulations and ensure procurement practices adhere to all relevant laws and guidelines.

Qualifications:

  • A bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as business, finance, or supply chain management. Advanced degrees or procurement certifications are a plus.
  • Several years of experience in procurement, with a strong background in procurement for financial institutions. Experience with regulatory compliance is highly desirable.
  • Regulatory Knowledge: Deep understanding of financial industry regulations, including those related to procurement.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills for negotiation, reporting, and collaboration with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Analytical Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities for evaluating supplier contracts, financial data, and risk assessments.
  • Attention to Detail: Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills to manage complex procurement processes.
  • Ethical Conduct: A commitment to ethical conduct and maintaining the highest standards of integrity in all procurement activities.
